OBJECT
Develop a rationale for interpreting a piece of music and the feeling about it through typography, imagery, and layout. Write down, gather, and research every idea, emotion, metaphor, and visual that you associate with the song.

囍 (Chinese Wedding) is a Chinese rap song performed by 葛东琪 (Dongqi Ge). Through a satirical lens, the song draws from the traditional ghost wedding ritual—an ancient feudal custom—exposing the cruelty, absurdity, and emotional violence embedded within the hierarchical social system of its time. Beneath the celebratory surface lies a tragic narrative of love constrained and ultimately destroyed by tradition.

This Editorial & Cover Design project translates the song’s critical tone into a typographic language rooted in contrast and distortion. The interplay of light and shadow creates an illusory, almost hallucinatory visual effect, echoing the tension between ritualized joy and underlying oppression. Typography becomes a narrative device—revealing the dissonance between appearance and reality, and reinforcing the song’s critique of feudal ideology and its human cost.
